Are you afraid to leave the bleachers?

Have you noticed on social media that there are many people who are keen to give their unsolicited opinion on someone else's work?

They don't produce content of their own, they just comment/criticise content of others.

I was watching a YouTube video of Ali Abdall (look him up) and he was initially concerned that if he started putting content (blog posts initially) that his family would criticise him, his friends would laugh at him etc. He also felt like he was an imposter.

Then he read the book Show Your Work by Austin Kleon (short book, worth a read) that said you should just publish and be damned anyway.

When he did start to publish some blog posts (he now has much more media to post on, mainly YouTube I think?) he found that yes he did get some criticism but it was not the sky is falling type scenario. It was hardly anything compared with what he envisaged.

He has now built a multi million enterprise from this start.

If he had not published his first blog post then he would never have built his business.

He was not afraid to leave the bleachers (stands) in the end, and he got on the pitch and put his content out there. Many people, including me, have enjoyed and benefitted from what he has put out.

Some of his information I have seen from others (just a different wrapping) but it does not really matter, you just need to live your life and not be influenced by what "may" happen or what your mind conjures up.

Get out on the pitch.

This is my first Blogger foray out onto that pitch.

Are you still going to sit in the bleachers?
